OSHA has just issued a final rule that protects food industry whistleblowers from retaliation. It clarifies provisions set out in the January 2011 Food Safety Modernization Act that protect workers who disclose information about a possible violation of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. This rule establishes procedures for handling retaliation complaints and explains the burden of proof, remedies, and statue of limitations (similar to other whistleblower protection statutes). Read the final rule here.
