Work-Related Fatality Rate Declines

A preliminary total of 4,609 work-related fatalities, or 3.5 deaths per 100,000 full-time equivalent workers, were recorded in the United States in 2011, according to the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries conducted by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. In 2010 there were 4,690 fatalities, a rate of 3.6 per 100,000 workers.
