More than 4.6 million commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers in the U.S. undergo mandatory physical examinations each year. Healthcare professionals have until May 21, 2014, to become qualified to perform these exams under new federal rules. After that date, all CMV drivers will be required to be examined by a qualified clinician who is listed on the new National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners (NRCME).
