Consistent energy and sustainability information management is vital to ensure CBRE’s clients fulfil their ambitious sustainability goals as wells as to guarantee legislative compliance and streamline external reporting.
From 2018, buildings with an EPC rating of F or G cannot be let to new tenants or renewed to old. However, information on EPC ratings are rarely known or stored by landlords. CBRE needed a tailored system to support their EPC Risk Mitigation Project, helping to identify risk and provide coherent information on actual or estimated EPC ratings. It also should enable the company to create strategies to mitigate risk based on building and lease characteristics, to implement change through project managing strategy, and gather information for annual ‘Responsible Property Investment’ Reporting.
Furthermore, CBRE wanted to collect data on electricity, gas, water and waste consumption to be incorporated into annual reporting and to provide greater context around building performance.
A major requirement was the possibility of easy data entry for facilities managers, having auditable processes for the energy team and high level visuals for fund managers.
UL EHS Sustainability was able to provide CBRE with a reporting system tailored to their needs including a centralized storage system for all collected information as well as auto generating reports and data exports.
CBRE uses the PURE Platform to capture vital data on building energy initiatives and performance, in order to comply with the upcoming UK Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES) legislation. The company is now able to store and report on a large number of existing certifications and can support property managers with a visual overview and easy document storage to assist with building and project management.
All building information is stored in a centralized manner. CBRE collects and analyzes data on tenants, leases, area, valuations, building structure and services and can assess each property through tailored questionnaires. The system also supports on site assessments by producing printable word documents of each questionnaire and allows for easy data uploads, information sharing between departments and provides a detailed, auditable data log.
In addition, CBRE uses the PURE Platform to centralize all Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) evidence pack information, streamlining the reporting process and ensuring it has a robust set of records in place for audit purposes.
With the PURE Platform, CRBE can now provide an easy to access database for all properties. The Sustainability team has created individual Property Pages, with access tailored to individual users and the portfolios they manage. These pages give an overview of the progress made and the information currently held for each property. The system supports the storing and uploading of EPCs and other sustainability certificates and information, provides an easy to access database for all properties and intuitive dashboards to display information and generate a basis for decision making.
When carrying out risk assessments, teams can collaborate within the system and quickly enter and share data through incorporated shortcuts. Finally, all data is pulled together automatically by the automated reporting capabilities of the system, providing site and tenant information to stakeholders as well as valuating risk assessment and EPC information.
